Do you have the courage to risk your vote?

The approval rating of the United States Congress is about 15%. Yet, almost 90% of the incumbents are reelected. This is insanity. Who is at fault? We the People must take the blame. We continue to vote for the lessor of two evils. We don't have the courage to revolt with our vote.

We must stop voting for the party candidate blindly. We must eliminate any candidate from consideration who has taken an oath to uphold the constitution and then votes for unconstitutional bills. This would include any bill which is questionably unconstitutional. We must also eliminate from consideration any candidate who broke his campaign promises

If your party's candidate, is eliminated because he voted for unconstitutional bills or broke his campaign promises, you must not vote for him. You must consider another candidate. If there are only two candidates and both are eliminated, you can not vote for either.

Here in Nevada, you can vote for “None of these candidates” so you can still vote. In other states, you may be able to vote for a write in candidate. However, if you only have two choices and both are eliminated, just do not vote in that race.

Image what would happen on election night television coverage if We the People had the courage to revolt with our vote. The commentator says, “In the State Senate District 1 race, the Republican candidate has 2% of the vote and the Democratic candidate has 2% of the vote. We can now predict that “None of these candidates” is the winner. Of course, the law states that only the votes for a candidate will be counted so “None of these candidates” could not win.

If this continued for several races, the commentators would definitely be discussing why “None of these candidates” were getting so many votes. The candidates would realize that they must keep their word and keep their promises.

Then, the commentator announces, “We have a news bulletin. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party have demanded that the voting machines be examined for tampering. They believe that there has been voter fraud.”

It would be national news. It would have a tremendous effect on the 2016 elections. We the People would have better candidates who we can trust. The incumbents will know that they must keep their oath and their promises or they will lose the next election. Voter fraud will be reduced.

If We the People had revolted with our vote in the 2012 Presidential election, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney would have been eliminated. We would have elected either a Constitutional Party President, a Libertarian Party President, or a Green Party President. Would the County be in any worse condition? The answer is that it would probably be in better condition and We the People would have sent a message that We the People are in charge.

In Nevada, Cliven Bundy stood up to the BLM and the Federal Government. He risked his life and property to fight for Nevada's land and our rights. When armed troops arrived, various citizen militias from different parts of the County risked their lives to support Cliven.

One Saturday, it was so volatile that any wrong movement or noise could have resulted in bloodshed and loss of lives. Fortunately, the conflict was temporarily resolved to eliminate the tension and no one was seriously injured.

Many people are willing to take up arms and fight to protect our freedom and rights. However, they will not risk their vote. If We the People are afraid to risk our vote, we will soon have nothing left to fight to protect.

Our Forefathers risked their lives and all that they had to create our County and give us our freedom and liberty.

Our Veterans also risked their lives to protect that same freedom and liberty.

We the People only need to risk our vote to save our County, our freedom, and our liberty.

If We the People do not revolt with our vote now, it will be too late..

This is from an email that I received.

Yet it is Edward Snowden who probably deserves the most appreciation right now. With each new revelation, it becomes clearer that he has done a public service of the highest order. We can hope that people in power will eventually recognize that and make a deal that will give him asylum in a Western democracy or, better yet, a way back home as a genuine patriot who committed an act of justified civil disobedience.

Who has demonstrated more honor? Is it Snowden or the people, also deeply patriotic, who run our national security apparatus? I don't doubt that the spies truly believe they've also done what is necessary. But they've lied to Congress and the American people; trampled on our civil liberties; and, in general, violated their sworn oaths to defend the Constitution. Who's the greater patriot?

The FDA's War on You

Dear Laissez Faire Today Reader,

Yesterday, you read about the government's latest crusade against trans fat. Instead of reminding you that bad foods like cookies, cakes and candies contain the unhealthy substance, they're working hard to remove it from the American diet. And if delicious treats, snacks and desserts are the unintended casualties, they're willing to make that sacrifice on your behalf.

But now they're waging a different kind of war. A war against your genetics. They want to make sure you don't know anything about them.

Confused? We were too when we first came across the story. Let's go over some details.

23andMe is an innovative company that offers a unique service if you're the adventurous type. They are a popular genomics service that offers genetic testing at an affordable price. So if you want to check to see what diseases you might be predisposed to as you get older, they can help you out.

You would think that a government that's bending over backwards to make sure people get medical coverage for benefits they don't even need would find this service invaluable. But government logic doesn't work that way.

Instead, the Food and Drug Administration just banned the service because they're worried about what you might do with this information. That's right. The government doesn't want you to be too informed.

You see, they think if you take one of their genetic tests and it says you have a high risk of breast cancer, you might do something rash and have a mastectomy. Of course, most people presented with this kind of information would probably take a less drastic route. That might include more testing to make sure you actually are at risk, or changing your diet and stop eating foods that contain trans fat (solving another problem without government meddling).

But to think that people would start lining up for invasive surgeries based on a $99 test is crazy.

There could be another reason why health officials are cracking down on this test. They want their cut of the action. In the letter they sent to the company, they made it clear that this genetic test falls under the category of a medical device. As such, they need to do the proper testing and get government permission to offer their product to consumers.

Whether or not this qualifies as a medical device isn't the big issue. It's whether the government plays a role in determining whether you should have access to information regarding your own body. They've taken it upon themselves to be the guardian that withholds bad news from you because they think you might do something reckless with it. It's another case of the government taking an active role in your personal life.

But like we said yesterday when it came to trans fats, now that they're involved in the health care of millions of Americans, they have vested interest in your health and well-being. If someone decides to have an unnecessary surgery (and we think that person would be in a tiny minority), the system they're created might have to pay for that.

The Blame Game

In this letter to the Editor of the Review Journal, I am discussing how we must take responsibility for our lives. We cannot demand that the government provide for our wants.

Blame game

To the editor:

In response to Nadia Romeo’s Thursday letter, responding to “The 10 Cannots,” it’s this type of thinking that’s causing many of the problems in our country. Instead of taking responsibility for our lives, many blame others or other things for their living conditions. Sure, some things are out of our control, but we must do the best we can under the circumstances.

In her letter, Ms. Romeo blames banks and big business for our lack of thrift. She blames the rich because they aren’t paying enough in taxes. She blames health care and college costs for our spending more than we make, and she blames Mitt Romney for inciting class hatred.

It reminds me of a story Jim Rohn told. When he was 25 and broke, his mentor asked him why he was broke, since he had been working since he was 21. Jim said that he had a list. He blamed the government, his job, his boss, his wife, his relatives and even the weather. His mentor said that there was only one thing wrong with his list: He wasn’t on it.

We all have catastrophes in our lives. However, if we give up and blame others, we will never succeed.

It’s the American Dream that a person can start with nothing and be a success. That dream is still obtainable. It may be more difficult now, but it is still there. We live in the greatest country in the world. It’s up to us to take advantage of the opportunities available. We must also protect our freedoms so that we continue to have those opportunities.

Las Vegas Sun Letter about Our Republic being Threatened.

This is an article that I wrote about how our Republic is being threatened. It was published in the Las Vegas Sun newspaper.

In his column entitled “How to improve elections,” Trey Grayson says, “Clean, fair and credible elections underpin a functioning democracy, so improving the way ballots are cast and counted ought to be a broadly embraced, wholly nonpartisan goal.”
I agree that we need to improve elections, especially by eliminating fraud in registering, casting and tallying the votes. According to legislative testimony by Ross Miller, Nevada’s secretary of state, the state has eliminated lines on voting day by using early and absentee voting. Voter turnout has also increased drastically. In fact, Nevada’s voting procedures are being studied by other states.
However, the United States is not a democracy — as Grayson states in his first sentence and then several times throughout the article. The United States is a republic, ruled by law — and the law is our Constitution.
The Constitution is being ignored by our representatives and we are losing our freedoms and liberty. Soon we will be a democracy where rule by the majority will enslave the minority.
Our only protection is to vote and elect representatives who will uphold the Constitution.

Las Vegas Sun Letter about Legislative Salaries

We cannot continue to spend money and increase taxes. We must demand that our Nevada Legislators stop raising taxes and balance the budget.

We are losing our freedom and liberty.

No more assaults on our gun rights. No more assaults on our civil liberties.

No more standing by silently while the statists build up their prison walls all around us with outrageous schemes, including:

***Unmanned, armed drones flying overhead to spy on us;

***Department of Homeland Security-approved "Fusion Centers" issuing warnings about people who might have the "wrong" presidential candidate's bumper sticker on their car;

***Mandatory groping and naked body scans just to board an airplane;

***Warrantless wiretapping and snooping, enabling nameless, faceless bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. to listen to our phone calls and read our emails;

***Looking the other way while the President claims authority to assassinate American citizens on a whim;

***The NDAA's "indefinite detention" provision allowing our federal government to lock us up FOREVER without so much as a trial.

Of course, they tell you and me they're demolishing our constitutional liberties "for our own good."

Obama's Legacy

This is a letter to the editor in the December 15, 2012 Review Journal.

President Obama is worrying about his legacy, according to reports.
Are you kidding me? Because the mainstream media are in the tank for this president, he could be responsible for wiping out half the population with the plague and his "legacy" would be skillfully saving the other half despite the insurmountable obstacles he faced because of George W. Bush, the Republican Party, global warming and racism.

I think that this letter is funny, but sad. It is sad because it is so true.

Obama's Campaign Promises

In his crusade for a second crack at the presidency, Obama made many promises. He pledged to create "1 million manufacturing jobs by 2016", to cut "oil imports in half by 2020," and "cutting in half the growth in college tuition over the next 10 years. The means to accomplish these goals consisted of vague references to reforming tax codes and establishing "a new network of 15-20 manufacturing innovation institutes," etc.

Before his election, the Obama stated that the economy had turned around and he just needed more time. Now we are facing a "fiscal cliff".

Four years from now, we will see the results, but we must remember what Obama promised. Of course, he will not be campaigning, but we need to remember that politician's make promises that they do not keep. We must look at their record not listen to their promises.

Obama has blamed Bush for all the problems. Who will he blame now?

Surprise! We are approaching a "fiscal cliff".

Everyone is talking about the “fiscal cliff”. Did this just sneak up on us?

Our government is over 15 Trillion Dollars in debt. We are adding to that debt with over 1 Trillion a year. Then Congress decides to spend another 40 Billion Dollars a month on bad mortgages. We have unfunded liabilities in Social Security, Welfare, and other social programs.

Unemployment is at almost 8%. People are losing their homes, their jobs, and their hope.

Now everyone is noticing that we are approaching a “fiscal cliff”. What a surprise!

Just last Friday, the US Department of Education released new data on student loan defaults. Within a handful of years, US taxpayers will be on the hook for over $100 billion in student loan defaults.

When we needed strong leadership, the Republicans gave us Mitt Romney and the Democrats gave us Obama. Then, the people voted for the lesser of 2 evils. If we continue to vote for only the 2 major party candidates, we will continue to have the lesser of 2 evils governing us.

Register for other parties. Send a message that you have had enough. You can still vote for any candidate.

Political signage versus commerical signage

My neighborhood forbids commercial advertising on the front lawn, but the code makes an exception for politicians running for office. If anything, it should be the opposite. If I like a business, why should I be prohibited from putting their sign in my yard. If a political sign is OK, why not a business sign.

At least, the business only charges me for a service or product that I want or need. The government forces me to pay for things that I don't want. or use.

If my neighborhood doesn't like signs in our yard, then all signs should be prohibited.

Government Hypocrisy or Our Stupidity?

This is a letter to the editor in the Review Journal by Kenneth Heinz in Henderson

"Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they have health insurance, but does not require everyone to prove they are a citizen. Now many of those who refuse to prove or are unable to prove they are citizens will receive free health care, paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens."

You can make a difference! REVISITED

In this post, I commented on the quote, “If voting changed anything, they’d make it illegal.”.

It seems that everyone has a different opinion about who "they" is. It is the people in power. The people with money who control our government.

The problem is that "We" gave it to them. We didn't vote them out. We let them break their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. We reelected them.

We need to stop reelecting legislators who do not defend the Constitution.

The purpose of law and therefore the Constitution is to protect every individual's rights, liberty, and property. Therefore, it is unconstitutional to take your rights, or liberty, or property and give it to anyone else.

 

Obama revealed.

In a Review Journal article. Thomas Sowell told about a time when then Senator Obama spoke to a predominately black audience at Hampton University on June 5, 2007.

Obama charged that the federal government with not showing the same concern for the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit as they had shown for the people of New York after the 9/11 attacks, or the people of Florida after Hurricane Andrew hit.

He mentioned the Stafford Act, which requires communities receiving federal disaster relief to contribute 10 percent as much as the federal government does, was waived in New York and Florida, but not in New Orleans because the people in  new orleans are predominately black.

Yet, less than two weeks earlier, the Senate voted to waive the act for New Orleans and Obama voted against waiving it.

It should come as no surprise that President Obama will raise taxes if he is re-elected. But here’s the shocker: He will invite the United Nations to tax Americans directly. And the proceeds would go directly to the Third World.

We must protect our rights, liberty, and property by electing people who will keep their oath to  uphold the Constitution which is the law of our Country.

You can make a difference!

The only way to make a difference is to

·         Register as a third party candidate

·         Vote as a third party candidate

·         Get involved.

 

If you continue to vote for the lesser of two evils, you will continue to get evil.

We are giving up our Sovereignty!

Our Congress is making treaties with the UN and other countries which may trump our laws and our Constitution.

Liberal justices, like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, have already urged using foreign law to interpret U.S. domestic laws – and now, if this convention is not stopped, the door will be left wide open to the trumping of our U.S. domestic laws with the whims of a U.N. "committee of experts"!

We must stop Congress from making treaties which gives up our sovereignty. One treaty under consideration is the Convention on Rights of Disabled Persons (CRDP). This  treaty gives the UN considerable authority over parents rights in the United States.

We must elect legislators who will stop making dangerous treaties. We must protect our sovereignty.

The Illusion of Choice

These are parts of an article by Joel Bowman in an article entitled, "The Illusion of Choice".

Tell me sir, “yes” or “no,” have you stopped beating your wife?

Simply put, the false dilemma is a sly trick of exclusion whereby a speaker (always generously) offers his or her audience the apparently favorable choice between two unfortunately poor options.


So profoundly have certain false dilemmas bored their way into people’s “thinking” that supposedly able-minded individuals have stricken the very possibility of free market cooperation from their mental map.

Indeed, some confused people even contend that, were we to ignore the iron-fisted directives of The State, we would promptly descend into a Mad Max-style dystopia, in which a collection of unchecked territorial monopolies would roam the planet, stealing and damaging property at whim and torturing, imprisoning and killing whomever they so wished.

Strange then that these same people would “remedy” this apocalyptic nightmare by supporting The State...a collection of unchecked territorial monopolies that roam the planet, stealing and damaging property at whim and torturing, imprisoning and killing whomever they so wish.

I mention this article because this is the reason that government has grown so large. We think that the only solution to a problem is to have the government solve it even when the government has proven over and over again that it is not an effecient problem solver. In fact, it ususally creates more problems than it solves.

Is the United States still a Republic?

A Republic is a form of government which is governed by law. Our Country was founded as a Republic governed by the Constitution which is the law of the land. In recent times, the Constitution has been reinterpreted in many ways. Is the United States still a Republic?

An article in the Las Vegas Sun states that "Well, I’ve said before that, just as the framers of the Constitution were imperfect, so was that hallowed manuscript they created. Those Founding Fathers’ greatest gift was drafting a document that would be adaptable to the changing times that were sure to come and indeed keep coming".

Of course, the Constitution may need updating, but the framers provided a way to change it. You change it with an Amendment. If the courts can change it with their interpretation, we do not have a government by law, but by interpretation. There is no law at all if a judge can change it any time with his decision.

A Republic needs a strict rule of law. If times change, the law must be changed to adapt. In the United States, Congress must pass an Amendment to the Constitution. We cannot have judges change it with their rulings even if it is the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court purpose is to determine if a law is constitutional or not. The Supreme Court must have a strict interpretation of the Constitution. If the Supreme Court expands or changes the original interpretation, the Constitution becomes meaningless and we do not have a Republic.

What if We were electing a king and not a President?

If we were electing a king, we would have a monarchy (rule by one) or, if the king was controlled by a few people, we would have an oligarchy (rule by a few).  Our founding fathers created a Republic which is rule by law. In American, our law is the Constitution. Do we still uphold the Constitution? Do we still have a Republic?

A king can make any decree and it is law. Our President can issue an Executive Order and it becomes law. There is not much difference.

A king can arrest and imprison one of his subjects without a trial. Now that the National Defense Authorization Act has passed, our President can arrest and imprison an American citizen without a trial. There is not much difference.

A king can create any kind of tax that he wants. With this new Supreme Court Decision on the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, our President with the help of Congress can tax anything. The Supreme Court ruled that we can be taxed for not buying Health Insurance. What will be next? Will we be taxed for not buying postage stamps because the Post Office needs money? Will we be taxed for not exercising because we are too fat so that the government can save money on health care? There is not much difference?

It’s rapidly coming to this: If you can be “taxed” for refusing to buy health insurance, you can also be “taxed” for refusing to ship off your kids to the U.S. armed forces. “If you have military-age children who have not served in this decade’s wars, then you owe a debt — meaning money — to those who did,” is how the Associated Press paraphrases the idea behind a new fundraising effort. How long before it will become a tax. There is not much difference?

A king can live a lavish life style in a huge castle spending money on clothes, travel and entertainment without any restrictions. Our President lives a lavish life style in the White House. He travels anywhere he wants in a private jet. He even has another jet for his dog. His daughter goes on spring break with her friends to Mexico. There is not much difference?

If you testify in court, you take an oath to tell the truth. If you break that oath and lie, you will be convicted of perjury and sent to jail. Our congressmen take an oath to uphold the Constitution. When they break that oath and vote for an unconstitutional bill, nothing happens. In fact, they probably will be reelected because the incumbent wins most elections.

We are losing our freedom, liberty, and independence. We may soon have a king instead of a President. We are becoming subjects to the king (government).

It is our fault. We, the voters, have elected the people who have taken our freedom from us little by little. You can continue to vote the same people into office or you can get rid of them and vote in people that will uphold the Constitution.

If you continue to vote Democrat or Republican, you will continue to lose more freedom and independence. By voting for a third party candidate whenever possible, you can make a difference. Do you want a king or a President? There is a great difference.

Don’t waste your vote. Don’t vote for the lesser of two evils. Vote for qualified third party candidates even if you don’t think they will win because, if you do, soon they will win. You will have made a great difference. You will regain your freedom and independence. You will have a President instead of a king.

It is your choice.

You can be an independent American or you can be a government slave.

  

Obamacare and the Supreme Court Decision
